Pit Optimization Settings: Options

To access this dialog:

  • Using the Optimization control bar, select Ultimate Pit | Settings and select the Options tab.

For a more detailed explanation of the slope definition process, see Pit Optimization.

Field Details:

Initial topography: the default is the topography derived from the deposit block model but any imported or Studio NPVS-generated surface can be used. Choose [Use default] or select an Indicator file defining the desired surface from the provided list and enter the Pit code (indicator value identifying the surface within the file).

Pit limits: the ultimate pit extent can be restricted by digitized or imported outlines stored as Pit Limit Objects. Choose No Pit Limits or an appropriate object from the provided list.

Generate final pit with minimum bottom width: smooth pits are essential for generating practical pushbacks. Selecting this option will remove the narrow bottoms of the ultimate LG pit. The nested LG phases generated inside the smooth pit will not be adjusted and will contain narrow bottoms.

Enter the desired minimum Mining width in meters. Note that this value needs to be higher than 20 meters to have any noticeable effect on the calculated ultimate pit.
